Is it T3 treatment that stops weight gain in hypothyroidism?

Just read an article on here on the lines of post to my doctor. I may have misunderstood but does T3 regulate metabolism and if so would weight gained with hypothyroidism be controlled or even halted if T3 is taken?

Yes T3 is the active thyroid hormone which regulates heart rate, metabolism, body temperature; but no it isn't necessarily a guarantor of a healthy weight or of weight loss; it's not a diet pill. With T3 some may lose weight, some may not see their weight change in either direction, some may even gain. I am one of the latter.
