Responsible recording ?

diogenes Good morning. I hope you are well.

I was asking this question of another friend and she suggested I post it to yourself and see what you think about it?

I know this was updated in 2017 but can't see the update.

‘..there are no data suggesting the the blood level of total or Free T3 correlates with patients clinical response.’

I found this comment odd. Who’s oversight is that? Patients who have got better on T3 or the Dr’s who refuse to record that fact?

I would value your opinion.

There is a similar stance in Canada. I’d be interested in people’s views too!

There’s an excellent Canadian thyroid patient Campaign group that set up last Summer. You could ask thyroid patients on that group how they feel. Iv joined them, and a few others in the U.K. have too.

Hands across the water, with common cause.

The Choose wisely campaign was set up by an American company. I did some research on them end part of last year. A lot of money was pumped into it to start it off, from memory at least $10m. One has to ask why. That initial funding could have paid for loads of ft3 tests! 😃

The ABIM Foundation started it, initially in the noughties, then it was relaunched around 2012/3.

Thanks that’s interesting! I think I had also come across some info from that group at some stage.

Can you share how to get in touch with that Canadian thyroid group? Perhaps a link or their Facebook page. Thanks!
