I had a Total Thyroidectomy just over 4 weeks ago and it's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride ever since. For the first 2 weeks I felt great however from then I've been suffering constant heart palpitations (it feels more like a murmur).
I went back to work where they put too much on me and I started suffering anxiety attacks so I went to the doctor's and they reduced my Levothyroxine dosage from 125mcg to 100mcg and they put me back on the sick. This was over a week ago.
The anxiety calmed right down and the heart palpitations seemed to occur less for a couple of days but now they're constant again and I really don't know what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I think it's quite common to suffer from anxiety after thyroid surgery. Your hormones will be imbalanced for a while. Are you due another blood test? Make sure you get tested every 6 weeks until you are balanced on thyroid hormone. Imperative to check vitamin D levels. Ask doctor to do vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 as any of these, if low, could contribute to anxiety or symptoms. Look after yourself.
Hello, don’t have any answers but just wanted to say you’re not alone. Had my completion thyroidectomy on the 14th January which didn’t quite go to plan had a hemorrahge which resulted in going back into surgery that evening. Since then been suffering with palpitations and fast heart rate. Was initially reduced from 150 to 125 thyroxine but don’t think that’s the problem as was like this in the hospital. Tried to get blood tests for b12 etc but was not given them so going to pay for private blood tests but waiting until thyroxine been 6 weeks in system. Hopefully your symptoms calm down soon!
It's very unpleasant to experience what your going through and frightening . I had TT many years ago . I experienced palpitations too . Try and see if the fillers in the T4 brand your dosing with might not work for you and have it switched to another brand . . Have they checked your FT3 levels too ? You might need some T3 to calm your palpitations . The heart has receptor sights for T3 .
Adding some nutrients are very valuable too . Vitamin "D"/ K2 , B-Complex , B-12/Folate , Iron if you test low , Magnesium , Fish oil help to calm palpitations .
Your adrenals might need some support with vitamin "C" , B-5 . Celtic Sea Salt is great for electrolytes /Adrenals .
