You mean in the UK or other countries as well? I have been on Erfa (now take Thai NDT) and ordered it from a pharmacy in Brussels. Hopefully, other members will know which UK pharmacies carry it. I remember comparing prices between various Belgian pharmacies a few years ago, and they all charged the same. Like all prescription NDTs, Erfa is quite pricey.
I phone round to the pharmacies to check availability and cost, as this can vary.
Have you tried taking your Erfa in divided doses? If you're taking it all in one go, perhaps you would benefit from taking some in time to head off the slump. I experimented with that initially and didn't notice any difference. I'm currently experimenting with it again, just to see. Honestly, I find it more convenient to take it all at once, but many do better at taking anything with T3 divided into doses 2-3 times per day.
One of Thyroiduk's Advisers (deceased) always stated to take one daily dose of thyroid hormones as it is T3 that has to saturate our T3 receptor cells and the effect of that one dose lasts between one to three days. It also means that we don't have to bother about when to eat as food interferes with the uptake of the hormones.
When taking NDT, we start on a dose and always taking our symptoms into consideration we can increase by 1/4 tablet every two weeks until they are relieved and we feel better.
Hi I take Erfa 90mgs in divided doses 30mgs three times daily. I see a private Endo who prescribed it for me and I buy it from the private hospital pharmacy costs me about £80 for 200 tablets ( I think or something like that) I struggle with Erfa a lot I was on Levothyroxine and did okish on it for 15 yrs then I got unwell and after a years struggle went to see the private Endo. I have thought several times of going back in T4 because I get lots of undesirable effects ( I think from Erfa) I get a tingle on my tongue within 10 mins of taking it ( probably fillers) I also weirdly get tongue tingling when it’s due! I feel a sore chest when the dose has left my body ( my Endo said that it was possibly the T3 reducing in my body) but certainly something weird happens. I also suffer from palpitations and a very slow resting pulse then a tachycardia if I do anything NDT for me hasn’t been the saviour that it might be for others. All my vits/ minerals are optimal and so is my Thyroid profile with a marked suppressed TSH. We are all different and the Endocrine system is so complex it’s a travesty that it’s an area of medicine that I feel is vastly neglected and yet it regulates our wellbeing.
