Thyroidectomy tomorrow

Tomorrow morning I’m having my completion thyroidectomy. Just wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful advice and support I’ve been given on here so far.

Thank you all. Didn’t quite go to plan had to go back into theatre with a hematoma but lovely team and kept as comfortable as possible. Lots of friends and family to look after me after.

All the best dear. Is yours a hemithyroidectomy or a complete removal?

Hmm. Difficult decisions. We were offered a complete removal as well. But have now agreed to go for hemi and see what the biopsy says. In my daughter's case they are not sure if it's cancer.

I wish you well and pray to the Almighty to guide you to make the right choice...

From my experience I wish it could have all been done in one operation, to be fair though that’s because the completion thyroidectomy was very traumatic. And it was an extremely low likelihood of having the hematoma and having to go back into surgery (I had no risk factors only 29, low weight, non smoker etc). So probably not the best example.
