Possibility of shrinking?

Just wondering if there is any way to shrink thyroid or even if it can reduce naturally, or is this a one way process? Minds seems to be progressively growing, no signs of nodules or cancer, I’m seeing thyroid consultant in February. Breathing and swallowing difficult, could this just be inflammation or will this need to come out. Planning on calling doctors tomorrow to get copy’s of blood which are seen as normal, and asking if they would consider a trial of medication to ease symptoms

If you need thyroid hormones, because of low thyroid levels, then taking Levothyroxine may reduce goitre.

Thanks, symptoms of under active, although not picked up in bloods. Not medicated at the moment. I might suggest a trial of medication

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Have you had ALL these tested?

Add results and ranges if you have them

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting

Thanks, Don’t think I’ve had all these done, I’ll check. I was put on iron tablets for low ferritin. Just looking at the option for private tests with medichecks. May try that

For me thyroid medication is the only thing that shrank my goiter. Worth a try for sure.
