Does anyone notice Levothyroxine causes loss in motivation?

It’s like I have no motivation and my personality is flat on Levothyroxine. Does anyone else feel like that Levothyroxine is causing lack of motivation?

What dose are you on SollyOno?

The thing is my body is just getting acclimated to the medicine. I guess it takes time to get back to normal.

It happens when you're on the dose that is lower or higher than your body needs...

Anti-depressants cause lack of motivation and reduce joy, pleasure, laughter and fun. Apathy is common.

I would say a similar effect happens when T3 is too low.

Yes😑 Since my thyroid was removed and I was only on Euthyrox for 10 years. I became just different. "Lazy and no motivation" and other things too. Completely oposite to what I used to be. But lab test always said, I'm just in normal... I knew I'm not! However, since I switched to NDT, I'm starting to see some improvements. I would suggest you to try T3 also and see.

Hi SollyOno. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto Disease in April last year and was prescribed Levothyroxine 100mg. Once it was in my system I too felt tired and unmotivated all the time. I decided to read the drug manufacturers recommendations about taking this drug, and they stated to get the best results, take it at bedtime. So, I did not eat anything after 8pm and took my tablet at 11pm when I went to bed. Within a couple of weeks I was feeling brighter and more energetic. I then had an appt with the Endocrinologist so bloods were taken and my dosage was reduced to 75mg - absorption of these meds are better through the night. I hope my experience helps you and you soon get your mojo back😊

Hi

I'm on Levothyroxine and about 6 years ago noticed I'd lost my mojo but didn't associate it with the drug. I determined i would get it back myself feel really happy for a minute everyday. I would find a favourite tracks to play in my car, the ones that made me dance in my seat. I'd search Utube for a video that really made me smile. I told my family to forgive me but I might appear selfish sometimes but I was having a year pleasing myself. It worked for me. I began to do things I'd always fancied doing. Even bought a campervan that was only for me. Several times a year hubby goes to some sporting event with his mates and I go to some music venue and camp with like minded ladies. I am so much happier these days and have more energy. I kept the actions up for about 10 months but you do have to be disciplined.

Do you have any recent blood test results, Solly? For vitamins and minerals as well as thyroid. Post them here with reference ranges and that might give a better idea what's going on.

Lack of motivation is a classic hypothyroid symptom. So is low iron and several other things. I don't know about taking too much Levo having that effect, unless you aren't converting to T3 properly.

What dose are you on? If it is a starting or low dose (25 or 50 mcg) it could suppress your natural T4 levels and temporarily make you feel worse. But if you persevere things should improve. Thyroid treatment is a very slow process: Start on low dose. Wait 6-8 weeks. Blood test. Increase dose by 25 mcg if needed. Wait another 6-8 weeks. Another blood test…

I started treatment in May and am up to 100 mcg - probably will need another increase in the New Year.

Jnetti I want to thank you so much. This makes a lot of sense to me and it has been an uphill battle. I felt like giving up for a long time and when I reach out to people that they don’t understand my struggle.
