With an over range TSH and below range FT4 then you are hypothyroid.
The next test, done under the correct conditions, should give you a higher TSH so hopefully if your FT4 comes back below range again you will be given a diagnosis and a prescription for Levo.
Hi I've just had Medichecks come out and take tsh t3 and t4 as my tsh was 37.7. as my veins are so poor they come out to he house and use a butterfly. £75 but NHS will only read every month no good to me as cancer injection affects thyroid and lowers it every time does anyone listen. Of course they don't. D x How can you explain to anybody how ill you feel. Its like bring nailed to the bed.
I will be starving and getting my bloods done at 9am Thursday
You don't have to starve - just fast overnight, don't eat or drink anything (except water which you can drink freely) from bedtime the night before the test until after the blood draw on the morning of the test. At most you should be without food or drink for 8 - 10 hours, and for quite a few of those hours you'll be asleep.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. (if on LevothyroxineDo not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take immediately after blood draw. ) This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
I
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .
Hiya! I’m sorry I don’t really have any advice to offer you except my last tsh and t4 levels are fairly similiar to yours, except I’ve always been HYPERTHYROID and recently became HYPOTHYROID due to a switch in, and, overmedication. Yesterday I felt so poorly and worked myself up so much that I nearly called an ambulance. I had convinced myself I was dying and losing my mind, which ever came first. My most bothersome symptoms aren’t so much physical, it’s the dreamlike or here but not here feeling, and the anxiety that I’ve never in my life struggled with! Everything just looks a little strange. I don’t really know how to describe it. Like I’m peering through scuba goggles and not really making sense of much. I also have horrendous brain fog and can’t concentrate. I’ve always had a fantastic memory and quick recall and lately I have to give myself verbal reminders “ok now switch off the water, get your towel and dry off, ok now get clothes from drawer” it’s awful! If I don’t tell myself what to do I end up just standing there staring into space until an indecent amount of time passes and something snaps me out of it....usually one of my kids. I’m a single mum of three with no help around. I’m really struggling that I’ll never be normal again and my kids will miss out because of it. Sending you love and hugs!!
This is was I have 50% of my time :/ it's so hard to explain to someone who doesn't have it.
I also have unexplained infertility. I'm 34 and in a previous long term relationship I didn't use contraception for 6yrs and nothing. He know had children.
I do have anxiety and my GP days they everything is anxiety. It's all in my mind. And nothing gets resolved.
I've just ordered tests from medicheck and I hope this resolves it and gives me some answers. Even though I'm struggling financially because it's difficult to work full time. I'm hoping this gives me some answers because I'm at breaking point.
I really wish you had a GP's suppprt. You NEED a supportive GP moving forward.
Are you TTC?
If so your GP needs to know you have been trying for X amount of years so you can get further testing into your infertility, what about considering being put down for IVF its a long waiting time?
I hope you are ok.
Im lifting in terms of energy and mood and didnt get treatment as I was only at the very bottom of the range not under range.
I started exercising again and feel I need to push myself on regardless of what help they can give me as its myself really who can make changes as the help you received is limited and sporadic.
Im eating better and getting more vitamins into my system.
Wish I could give you a hug, your explaination of scuba goggles and the mental prompts I literally did that so I didn't drown in the bath, my mind wanted to but my body wouldnt move.
The depression and disgust for the day ahead comsumed me.
I stayed bottom on the range on testing so didmt get treatment. I decided to lift myself up more healthy eating and exercise this new year, its hard but Im feeling a shift in gears, Im no where near as tired, probably my fluoxetine starting to work its new since November.
I hope you are doing better in some shape or form.
My Gp went over and above at Christmas to make sure I was ok and had support. Its amqzing the difference a month makes.
