Teegee27,
Many members have had raised liver enzymes.
Thyroid hormones are converted from T4-T3 in the liver and low thyroid hormone influences cholesterol & other lipids by making the liver and gall bladder sluggish & congested.
This reduce biles flow used to breakdown fats and cholesterol and other toxins that are broken down in the liver, resulting in high cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides and raised liver enzymes.
Thyroid hormone is converted primarily through 2 processes. If you want to investigate further just google glucornidation and sulfation.
Yes, hypothyroidism slows everything down because thyroid hormone enables the production of energy in our cells. That's why there are so many possible symptoms, nothing works properly!
I had so-called "Subclinical" hypothyroidism (TSH high but T4 in range) and, even then, blood tests showed slight liver and kidney abnormalities, as well as having high cholesterol. Haven't had a full blood test since March, but assume there must be an improvement after beginning Levothyroxine
