The most important question that needs answering is: how were you diagnosed? Did you have any antibodies tested? If not, that 'diagnosis' is not valid, and you don't really know what's wrong with you. You should ring the surgery and ask for a print-out of your blood test results - it's your legal right to have one - and find out exactly what was tested and what the results were. :)

Definitely don’t stop just because of snoring - you (probably) won’t be on the carbimazole for ever anyway, and even if you are, only at a low dose. Untreated hyperthyroidism is potentially dangerous.

However, as Greygoose says, you do need to know what’s causing the condition. If you post your results and associated ranges (usually in brackets after the result), we may be able to give you more information, or at least suggest some questions for you to ask your doctor (have you been referred to an endocrinologist?).

Carbimazole causing snoring is a new one on me. But as your thyroid levels have come down, your sleep pattern may have changed.

The only reason you should stop this drug is on your doctors' specialist's advice. I had to change over to propylthioracil because the Carbimazole was harming my liver which can happen but not often. In the end I was given radioactive iodine which knocked my thyroid well down. If I knew then what I know now I would have refused that as I now know that my condition was probably brought about by post traumatic stress and anxiety.
