What's going on?? I have autoimmune thyroiditis, but these latest numbers look mad:
TSH (0.35 - 5.50) mU/L April, 2.25; Jul 2.19; Now 16.49
Free T4 (7.0 - 17.0) pmol/L April 8.6; July 11.3; Now 7.2
In May I started on 50mg levo. After July test argued I needed more & got put on 75mg. Ran out of 25mg a week before the latest test so was on 50. Didn't take any the day before - but even so??? Thoughts lovely people?? The receptionist could have got the latest numbers the wrong way round, but they're still odd????

I think I’d ask for a printout as receptionists aren’t all good at numbers! I’m not sure the latest test is worth much as your dose was lower for a week before and none taken on day before, I mean what has been measured? It’s possible though that your thyroid is gradually failing, that might be consistent with your results. Think you may need to take the same dose for a full six weeks, missing none out then retest (but don’t take any on day of test prior to test which should be as early as possible before food or drink). Good luck
Seems about right to me. You probably need a raise in dose to 100mcg levothyroxine but unfortunately in running out of Levo the week before the test you’ve lost your evidence.
Thyroid under attack from Hashimoto’s do lose their function over time.
I only ran out of 25 - I still had the 50. But if we even assumed no dose, then comparing the last figures with the first only in May, they are miles apart. Hence my concern at the different values over such a short time.
As for Hashimote's, my consultant said I have autoimmune thryroiditis. I asked if that was Hashimoto and he only said that if they dissected the thryroid they might find Hashi cells.
In endo-speak, that means 'I don't really know'! I've never heard of a 'hashi' cell', anyway. It's not a virus. That's a new one on me.
But, your results are logical. As your FT4 has gone down, your TSH has risen. That's what is supposed to happen. It could be that the thyroid hormone replacement you're taking has reduced/stopped the production your thyroid is still managing, but you're not taking enough yet to properly replace it. I wouldn't fret over it, if I were you.
Thanks Greygoose. I was fretting as the results were so different to a few months ago. But I'll persevere with the 100 and see what the next results show.
I’m always curious on how you actually feel symptoms different worse or what ? I’m still waiting for my Bloodwork to compare to old numbers . Still on 25 mg synthroid they switched me from Levo to synthroid saying that makes a difference not sure abt that !
