Swollen thyroid

My thyroid is causing me some neck discomfort and also tightness in throat. Sometimes feels lumpy too. Although i get swelling on left side of throat all my symptoms are on the right side including a puffy face. Can anyone explain this plz

Jenni55 I know it is a worry for you but before members can help you have to get a blood test from the doctor. If you're in the UK you can get a private test from one of our labs if you don't want to see your GP.

Puffiness is a clinical symptom. This is a list of all of them:-

The blood test should be at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between your last dose of levothyroxine and the test and take it afterwards.

You need TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. If GP wont do all of these, you can get one from a private lab and you have to be well-hydrated a couple of days before blood draw - these are finger pin-prick tests. One lab - Medichecks - has a special offer occasionally

I would guess you're on an insufficient dose as the aim is a TSH of 1 or lower but many doctors don't increase if TSH is around 3 or 4.

Might not be the same but my side was swollen I had a scan and they thought it was a cyst so I’ve just had it removed
