My daughter who is extreamly poorly ,hose/ bedbound with fibromyalgia, psychotic, and transgender, for the last 5 months she’s not been able too wee AT all and has too self catheterize 8 times a day.,we have finally got an appointment in 3 months, but it’s just something else my poor baby has to endure and cope with every single day ,she really is struggling and I feel helpless...the new symptom is her throat at times swells up significantly around the thyroid and it get large then goes down.am I clutching at straws thinking this may be a part of the puzzle, the dr unfortunately the last two times my girl has been it’s not been swollen,so over the last couple of months when I’ve seen it swollen I’ve taken photos to take too her dr ..what should be investigated? Thank you in advance for any pearls of wisdom.

What your daughter needs is a Full Thyroid Function Test which is:
TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.
All tests have to be at the very earliest, fasting (she can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between thyroid mediation (if she takes any) and the test and take afterwards.
Also B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate should be tested too.
I think T3 (which is rarely tested by the NHS) is necessary as it is this hormone which is needed for our brain function as well as heart. It is also required in the millions of T3 receptor cells in our body but the brain and heart require the most.
Get a print-out of the results and put on a new post for comments.
It is not the first time a hypo patient has been told they have mental health issues when the cause (eventually found) is low T3.
Looking at your previous posts, do you yourself, have Hashimoto's?
Autoimmune thyroid disease very genetic, so very likely in a direct offspring
It's not clear from your post, was your daughter born male, and now female or the reverse?
As Marz says, it could be that hormones involved in being transgender are complicating things
For full Thyroid evaluation she needs TSH, FT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting.
