Best of luck Donna. This time next week the operation will be well behind you. You’re bound to be nervous, anyone would be. Lots of love and hugs from Team Thyroid. xxx 😘
I wish you all the luck in the world Donna. You sound like a strong lady and I'm sure all will be fine but of course you are nervous and anxious, it's normal. Look after yourself after the surgery, allow yourself time to heal. Sending healing thoughts. j x
The worst part of this operation for me was the thought of it!
There's no point saying don't worry, but the worry will soon be over and you'll be at home feeling very relieved and you should also feel very proud of yourself for facing it.
Good Luck Donna! I had my surgery in June and there was little pain. Much easier than I expected. Give yourself time to heal. My biggest problem was my parathyroids being disturbed and a drop in calcium. This was a day after surgery. Easy fix with chewable calcium. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I needed Calcium too but very easy to sort. You will probably find you get a strange tingling sensation around your nose and mouth, so grab the calcium quickly, chew madly and it will be gone in minutes.
Good luck and looking forward to hearing you are back home with a husband busily cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
They will automatically send you home with the calcium, at least they did for me. It is important to take it very quickly if you feel it starting. I had only a few days of it and then the parathyroids calmed down and have been fine ever since (2006). Good luck!
Best of luck Donna. We will all be thinking of you and sending you our very best vibes. Look after years urself and get like ads of rest - and let us all know how you get on. ((((Big hugs))))
Hi everyone Just to let you all know the surgery did not go ahead in the end, I got there had my ECG done, pulse rate done got into the gown and then was told my heart is erratic, pulse is too high and my thyroid levels are still higher then they would like and said i would be at high risk of something fatal happening if I went through with it.
I do need to be put on some beta blockers for abit has anyone taken these before? Is there any symptoms from it?
