Members may already know this. But for those who don't; there is a new kind of levo out there. It's in liquid form wrapped in gelatine. Swiss made, and there are only four ingredients: Levo; purified water; gelatine and glycerine. Not only does this make it more easy to assimilate, but it also rids the confection of all those pesky chemicals some are allergic to. An added bonus is; there is some evidence that, unlike the tablet form, it is not affected by antacids. There are probably different names in different countries... Tirocint, is one. In France it is called, TCAPS. It costs 14 euros a box here - unlike the traditional levo tablets, it is not reimbursed by the state, but who cares. Whether or not it is a better solution I don't know, but it feels good to be taking something with so few additives.

Levo - a different beat.
Thank you. That is very interesting. Are you getting yours via your doctor or directly from a pharmacy? I come to France regularly and can easily see the doctor in our village if I do need a prescription.
Hi. I persuaded my doctor to give me a prescription. I told him it was called Tirocint and that is what he put on the prescription. However, the pharmacy said it wasn't available in France. It was only when I discovered that, here, it is called, TCAPS, that they were able to order it for me. I crossed out Tirocint and amended the prescription to read, TCAPS. They were happy with that. However, it did cost me 14 euros because it is not reimbursed by the state.
Thanks for the information. Are you finding it better? Is it worth pursuing my GP to have it prescribed in the UK? I will not be in France now until next year.
Difficult to say. I've only been taking it for 10 days. There may be a certain amount of placebo effect going on as I hated the levo tablets, but I feel fine at present. Why not give it a go?
Tirosint has been available in the US for quite a few years. I’ve been lucky enough to have been taking it right from the start.
At one point I did try a different kind of Levo (Unithroid) due to the cost of Tirosint but the Unithroid didn’t agree with me and at the same dose, wasn’t as effective as the Tirosint. I will only take Tirosint now.
I was able to get a prior auth so now my insurance company covers the Tirosint. I’m very sensitive to filler ingredients and have no issues with Tirosint. If folks are able to try it, I highly recommend.
could I ask where you get this from please? Thank you!
Hi. From the pharmacy. It is called TCAPS in France. You may be able to persuade your doctor to give you a prescription - it's no skin off his (or her) nose as you have to pay for it yourself. 14 euros a box of 30. Not sure if you live in France - you may have to research the name if you live elsewhere.
