Alchohol - gone off completely

I have had symptoms of jitters, weight loss. Nerves , cortisol type rushes for weeks and having tests for thyroid and a scan

I saw an endo privately who said one side felt swollen . I have slowed my life right down as I'm normally a very busy ( stressed ) person .i also suffer chronic pain but since having this I can't feel my pain it's been taken over

My question is that I usually enjoy alchohol but cannot stomach it , don't want it at all

Does this make any sense ?

It's been so noticeable . I'm saving money on wine but paying out for some private tests .

I’ve got hashimotos and have found that now I’m medicated I can stomach small amounts of alcohol again. If for any reason I have an increase in symptoms, I become intolerant.

Thank you for replying . I'm not sure what I got yet but it's strange for me . Prob a good thing really . But I used alchohol for pain relief so I could socialise ok . My pain is less at present since I've felt all these symptoms ...but I certainly don't want to feel like this so if it means no drinking and getting better that's cool x

With any luck you’ll find that the right treatment lessens your pain. Thyroid treatment certainly did for me! And as much as giving up certain things has it’s draw backs, there are perks to the good longer term effects on health.

Wishing you all the best in finding your way with treatment!

Hi Kirsty, Me too! I deliberately cut down on my wine intake (wine is my only drink) so that I could afford my NDT (~$140 per 2.5 months now) without having to sacrifice things which really mattered. I now hardly want wine at all. I found a really good quality ginger ale (no sugar nor junk in it and it's not very fizzy - I hate fizzy drinks) and look forward to drinking that with food. And, like you say, you can really cut back on your budget once you don't feel like you have to buy a bottle of wine, which is typically 1/3 of the cost of the groceries. Anyway, turn your lack of interest in alcohol into an asset, you might even lose a bit of weight!
