Hello,I would be most grateful if someone will be able to respond.I have hashimotos for a while. 3months ago I decided to stop smoking with Champix ,my tsh went down to 7.1 recently so as advised by my endo I have upped the dose slightly.I have finished Champix course in meantime. For last few days I feel very anxious and suffering from extreme hyperacusis constantly hearing unbearable low humming sound.because it's weekend I decided to take diazepam 2mg to prevent any full blown psychosis and calm myself down as noise get me awake at night. My thyroid is swollen and my neck is painful.Did similar symptoms happen to anyone? I since have dropped meds to original dose and will ask to be retested to make sure my tsh is not crashing down. Is there anything I can do to help myself in the meantime?

Severe sound sensitivity
It’s probably tinnitus... I’ve had it since starting thyroid medication
I’m not sure why we get it so bad
Not sure about what you say re TSH - coming down to 7.1 as this is high. Needs to be much lower.
Yes, I too have Tinnitus (thankfully intermittent & not constant). Also sensitive hearing.

I thought tinnitus aswell as I've got it continuously. Had a few times without when on NDT but usually panicked as thought I'd gone deaf-forgotten what silence was like!
I ended up on a&e with all symptoms of overactive thyroid-needed to go on beta blockers and anti anxiety drugs temporarily although tsh shows I'm hypo.Im suspecting my adrenals are culprit with all inability to raise dose of any medication, whether synthetic or ndt.Now getting tested for cortisol levels with saliva test, hoping once I address adrenal issues maybe than thyroid will balance itself
Can be a. Hi Ken and egg thing! Hope it works out for you.
