Does anyone encounter breathing and swallowing issues? It happened to me often on and off. I talked to my endocrinologist, he said that ir is related to stress. I don't get that. Thank you

Breathing and swallowing issues

Yes, I had swallowing issues before my GP added T3 (liothyronine) to my levothyroxine. I am now having breathing issues, but I know my levo dose is to high. T3 helped reduce my thyroid inflammation. However my increase in levo has caused shortness of breath and air hunger We are all so different .Do you have current labs and what is your diagnosis ?
Hi okaykay,
Yes i posted my labs a couple of weeks ago. My endo wanted to increase my Synthroid from 62,5mg to 75mg. I increased to 70mg and got heart palpitations, oppression and shakes. Of course, i stopped. My iron, B12, vit D and calcium are good. Thank you
Swallowing issues could mean your thyroid gland is swollen and pressing on your throat. Hashimoto's can cause that during an autoimmune 'flare'. What exactly are the breathing issues? You should ask for an ultrasound scan to check your thyroid gland. Could you post your latest thyroid function blood test results, with the ranges - the numbers in brackets? This will give an idea of what might be going on. You are entitled to these under the Data Protection Act. Some doctors make small charge for this.
I doubt if your Endo is qualified in psychology or psychiatry to enable him to diagnose you as having a stress related disorder, so he should be referring you to a suitably qualified practitioner for an assessment.
Hi Scazzoh,
I had a thyroid ultrasound. They found a nodule. I will have a biopsy in September 12. Thank you. Will post my labs
Hi Pastry
My Graves’ disease has caused my asthma to flare up
Hi Tiredmum75,
What can be done?
Not sure I have a doctor appointment next week about it so I’ll let you know
Yes, please keep us posted
It can be due to not being on sufficient thyroid hormones. This is from one of our deceased Advisers:-

Thank you shaws
I would ask for an endoscopy to look at a) whether thyroid is growing into windpipe and b) whether you have a problem with the oesophagus. I have lost one friend and am about to lose another to b).
Thank you Angel_of_the_North for the advice.
I can relate. Will decrease my Synthroid a little. Hope you feel better soon. Tks
Hi Espeegee,
Are hyper or hypo? Talked to my endocrinologist, no clues whatsoever. He told me to go to ER if I cannot breathe or/and swallow. But this is very often on and off. Cannot go to ER every day. I was doing ok for a day or two. Not sure what to do. Increase makes it worse. Decrease helped for a couple of days. How are you?
Im the same????
