Anyone have difficulty Swallowing? I sometimes need to swallow 4/5 times to swallow my own saliva?
Also my doctor recommending "upping" my dose to assist with weightloss as am doing everything and nothing is working. Will this edge me towards hypo?? My levels are all fine and pretty optimal according the range they use. Thanks

Your doctor seems sensible in that he is increasing your dose hoping to assist with weight loss. Because we are hypo it is extremely difficult to lose weight as our metabolism is so slow dieting doesn't seem to help much.
It would be helpful if you could state the results of your recent blood tests with the ranges on a new question if you don't have them at the moment. Members will then respond.
What are your results and ranges? I very much doubt they are fine if your GP is suggesting a dose increase. Being undermedicated will make it impossible to lose weight.
If you have difficulty swallowing your GP should palpate your throat and neck to make sure you don't have a goitre or thyroid nodule compressing your trachea.
Hi kim3012, sorry you are not feeling well. It is such a rubbish disease isn't it? Just to make you feel a bit better, I have a job swallowing sometimes too, it is like I want to swallow, I just can't do it and it will take several attempts. Sometimes I have a job to blow my nose too, after taking an in-breath through my mouth, I can't make it come out of my nose to blow it. xx
What would you suggest my levels be. My doctor admits she doesn't know much and does try to research and always listens if I suggest something I've seen or read. So any advice appreciated thanks
Hi kim, I have just posted an article about unfiltered apple cider vinegar. It has helped me lose weight among other things but recently we've had some helpful videos by naturopaths on treatment of autoimmune conditions. I'm still learning about this but the vagus nerve which is part of the brain stem controls many organs. Swallowing is included somehow in this. If this nerve is impaired which it may be, one of the doctors, Dr. Kharrazian who is a PhD researching some of this suggested that aggressive gargling may stimulate the vagus nerve.
Perhaps an increase of your hormone is needed as well. I'm researching more about this myself.
Thanks for that, brighter84. I'm still unclear as to whether you want to stimulate the nerve or not. Can you make a post on this with your experience? I have a problem with my palate and would like to correct it, so I've been gargling. He also mentions gagging until your eyes water but really hate doing that.
