Medicheck results - normal thyroid but low range folate

Well, here are my results. As far as I can see, they are now normal. My period of hyper seems to have resolved and antibodies seem to suggest there is no autoimmune. They picked up lower than range folate but otherwise text book normal.

One things for sure - I don’t have Graves as previously diagnosed!

This test doesn't include testing for Graves

For Graves antibodies you need this test

Private testing for suspected Graves - TSI or TRab antibodies

What medication are you taking?

But your results show low FT4 , low FT3

Borderline B12 and ferritin

Below range folate.

Your GP should prescribe folic acid

Need vitamin D tested too

I had an antibody test previously (not sure what test) and that was also negative. I will check with GP.

Not taking meds at all - was prescribed carbimazole but stopped taking after a few months as it made me feel dreadful.

I agree with folate and B12 and I have a long ‘history’.

My endo is seeing me on 7 sept but I was hoping for some ammunition before I went, hence the Medicheck tests as I know he (along with my GP) are only concerned with my TSH and T4 :-( .

My diagnosis of Graves was based on bloods; negative antibodies; family history and throat palpation.

Thyroid Check Ultra16 Aug 2018

Here I am reporting a Thyroid Check Ultravit.

We note that you are taking this test to monitor your thyroid function for which you previously took carbimazole but are currently on nothing as I understand.

Your thyroid stimulating hormone, thyroxine and T3 are all normal which suggest healthy thyroid function.

Your antibody levels are within normal limits and so an autoimmune condition of the thyroid is not detected.

You currently have normal vitamin B12 levels.

You have low serum folate. I recommend checking your red cell folate to assess whether this is significant. Following this I recommend increasing your intake of folate rich foods such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, asparagus, peas, chickpeas and brown rice. You may also want to consider an over the counter folate supplement.

Your CRP level is normal, indicating normal levels of inflammation in the body.

Your ferritin level is normal.

Based on your Thyroid Check Ultra results we recommend that you have the following test:

- Folate (RBC)within 1 month
