When i had mine back my result was 180nmol/L. I was advised to have a short synacthen test to investigate possible addisons disease which i have since had done and has ruled out addisons disease as i quite honestly expected it to! I am now pushing for a referal to investigate hypopituitarism with endocrincology. I think anything under 400nmol/l will warrant further investigation so if it were me i would ask my GP about further testing.

Thanks. Thing is I’m due to have a steroid injection in my shoulder which has been put off until he got results back. I don’t know whether to have it as my should hurts really bad. I’m going to ask to see a private Endo anyway.

Its good that you waited to have the cortisone injection as it will skew the results i'm sure. If it were me and i was in pain i would have the injection but i think i would ask first if further testing is going to happen, it was a matter of weeks before i got a short synacthen test where i live but i guess if my results were a lot lower like nearer the 100 mark i would have been seen earlier which did happen to me around 4 years ago.

The result is slightly low as it should be around 400-500 nmol/ls at this time of day. If you go to see a private Endo make sure that you see one who is conversant with adrenal/pituitary issues as most of them don't have a clue about it!
