I have low DHEA result 23 range 40-290 and borderline high cortisol result 19.4 range 8.5-19.8 (getting very anxious taking holy basil and ashwaghanda twice a day). I was on DHEA 25 mg a day which brought it up from 15 but unfortunately was too much for me got acne, headaches, insomnia and became aggressive. However I did feel better in terms of the weakness I have suffered with for 18 months. Reduced DHEA to 25mg twice a week but weakness came back.
Have read on Dr Sarah Myhill site that for people with low DHEA and high cortisol she uses Pregnenolone.
My question is what is the difference between DHEA and Pregnenolone?
What dose of Pregnenolone should you take?
Where can I get some?
Is it something you have to take for life?

The cortisol was taken at 8am. I guess I think it is too high as I am getting very anxious. I know it is in range just. Cortisol was lower in March it was 13.8 and anxiety was much better. I felt much better when I was on DHEA 25 mg once a day, no anxiety or weakness. Had to reduce to twice a week as developed acne, aggressiveness, bad headaches so was advised by my doctor I was having too much. With my DHEA currently at 23 range 40-290 I know I really need to get it up for thyroids meds to work efficiently. Before I went on DHEA weakness was terrible was almost bed bound. I was then on T4 only I am currently on combination of T4/T3.
Have read a lot about the Circadian T3 method but don't know if that will help with low DHEA.
I also wondered about pregnenolone which I understand can be used to raise low DHEA
