Hi can anyone give me advise for when GP rings me, I have just been to ask for my results for thyroid tests and was told by receptionist she had spoken to another GP in surgery as the doctor who had requested them was on holiday and I cannot have results until they have spoke to her but said they were "normal" thankyou.

The results have to be seen by a GP before they can be released to the patient.
Are they insisting that the results are seen by the GP who ordered the test, and this GP is on holiday? If so it doesn't work like that at my surgery. It's rare that the results are seen by the GP who requested the test, as long as they've been seen by one of the doctors then I can have a print out of my results.
Thank you for your reply yes a GP has seen them but said to receptionist that the doctor who requested them needs to see them, I have asked for this doctor to ring me to ask why, I am in my rights to do this?

Maybe your surgery has this policy, I don't know. As I said, at my surgery as long as any GP has seen them the results are released.
If they wont give you a print out or tell you verbally, maybe pop along to the surgery and ask to see them on the screen and take photo with your phone. That may or may not work. If their policy is that the original GP who ordered the test must see them first, then there's possibly nothing you can do about that. But you could ask why, if another GP has seen them, they are insisting that you can't have your results until the original doctor has.
At your next appointment make sure the doctor understands that you want a print-out of your results with the ranges each time you have a blood test for your own records at home. There should be no problem. Mine charge 30p for paper/ink.
