Please can someone advise what recommended level for pregnancy should be for hypothyroidism. I was taking 50mcg levothyroxine but increased to 75mcg even though I haven't heard back from endo for over a week now.
Thankyou

The strictess guidance is that TSH should be kept below 2.5 in the first trimester and below 3.0 for the second and third trimester. Your TSH is just above 2.5 so I wouldn't worry. If you have recently increased to 75 mcg the your TSH is likely to go lower as the extra levothyroxine builds up. If it was over a month ago that you increased I would add in another 25 mcg. This is just my judgement as a patient, so that you keep your TSH below 2.5 for the first three months of pregnancy. Common sense would suggest that minor deviations are unlikely to be a problem. Your fT3 and fT4 are a touch low so if you have hypothyroid symptoms I would add in the extra 25 mcg.
If you have increased your levothyroxine today it will take at least a week for you to feel the benefit as levothyroxine has a seven day elimination half life which means it builds up slowly. It takes about four weeks to get the full benefit of the dose increase.
