On 16th June my son and I took part in a 12km Muddy Race to raise funds for Thyroid UK.
We had a good day, but they stopped the event after 6km. It was the first time for the event and they were a bit disorganised. We wasted well over an hour queuing for obstacles! Because of this they said that it was just taking far too long.
We were very disappointed not to be able to complete the full 12km.
I am, however, very proud of myself for completing 6km in, what would have been, just over 2 hours. I climbed over things and under things, through mud and water which sometimes was chest or even neck deep, for some of the time with no shoes cos they got stuck and were full of mud! I even did some jogging! LOL!
The stinging nettles got EVERYWHERE - between my fingers, all over my elbows and even on my bottom!
SO proud of my son, Reece, who not only helped ME on the high things and saved me when I started to panic in the very sticky mud, but who also lent a helping hand to every single person he thought was even slightly struggling.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored us - I think the total is going to be around £600 for Thyroid UK - although the page is open till 16th July!!
