I have had a homocysteine blood test but I did it privately through Blue Horizon one of our private labs. I had blood drawn and tested in an NHS hospital. I shall give a link , just in case:-

Thank you :-) so I understand if I test like just normal nhs b12 or active b12 and if it’s on optimal ranges it doesn’t mean I have enough b12 and there for I have to check MMA and homocysteine?

What was your most recent B12 result.

Any B12 supplements skew results

The most recent was on 25.06 which was 616 (197-771) it was when I stopped supplements b high potency complex but I didn’t have them every day every two days on third day .they were 828 three weeks ago and than I stopped supplement and it came down to 616 in three weeks so decided I should go back lol and now I take high potency vitamin b complex every other day does it sound sensible?

Many on here need daily or alternate day B complex

There's little point testing if supplementing, unless you have obvious low B12 symptoms such as tinnitus, pins and needles, feeling drunk/dizzy

Low vitamin D and low B vitamins linked

616 is actually quite a good value for B12 - it's near the top of the normal range- so unless you are highly symptomatic it is extremely unlikely that you are B12 deficient so no need to supplement.

The body will normally regulate B12 levels quite well and keep them at the level that is right for you. However, if you start putting B12 in faster than your body can remove it then your levels will rise. Falling back to 616 may just indicate that that is the level that is right for you.
