Swollen fingers
Which knuckle joints? All of them? I'd go and see your doctor to find out what it is if it doesn't settle down in a few days.
Could be a food intolerance. Just a thought.
My hands become red, swollen and throbbing a few hours after eating oats. Wheat is similar, but not such a strong reaction. Potatoes make the inside of my mouth swell up - and maybe other places, but I notice it most in the mouth.
Are your fingers swollen all the time? If not you might be able to see a pattern which might be related to food. Wheat problems can be difficult to spot as most people eat wheat every day and at every meal.
Certainly worth seeing your doctor, but few doctors know much about food problems.
Not swollen all the time came on suddenly
Speak to your local pharmacist today. Pharmacists are very knowledgeable. He/she might suggest an antihistamine - either pills or cream as you seem to have reacted to something. Don't just speak to the shop assistant, ask for the pharmacist.
Get a doctor's appointment as soon as you can.
Hope that helps.
Hi my fingers tows and elbows knees do this at moment and the colour is coming out of my nuckels I thought it was rheumatoid arthritis. Which is another auto anune disease would be intressted in what else it could be.
First thing that comes to mind seeing as you said it just came on is, what happened or did you start consuming in the last week. Some intolerance don't flare straight away...
Hi Debbie, I suffer from pins and needles and swollen hands, fingers, feet and toes. Sometimes my extremities are cold, next they burn. I was diagnosed last year of AITD...I was later diagnosed with Coeliacs. I have been eating gluten free now for over a year. I still have symptoms ...painful palms, wrists and fingers. My GP last year advised I had white finger, Raynauds and carpal tunnel under the banner of peripheral neuropathy...right now I am in pain writing this. I don’t for normal reply on this forum as I bow to the wisdom of the admins on this forum who take the time to reply and give good advice. It may be that you have something similar with regards to the pains in your fingers... I am on this forum everyday learning more about the thyroid and how to keep myself well...I do,hope you get to,the bottom of what’s causing your condition.
