'Forefront health' anyone?

Has anyone heard of 'Forefront Health'?

What are your thoughts?

A lot of what is on this site goes against everything I've learned about Hypothyroidism and Adrenal insufficiency.

My brain feels scrambled! I don't know who to believe anymore!

Well, ask yourself : who's trying to sell something? That's normally a good guide.

happypurple profile image
happypurple in reply to greygoose

Of course. I totally understand that, but aren't all trying to sell something? Be it a recommended supplement or a book about the topic, or a service such as testing? I think your statement is a bit sweeping and not really considered.

This guy comes across as particularly salesy.

I agree, but what I was questioning was the validity of his preeching.

Have you heard of a Dr.Peat?

If you search him on this website, he comes up with lots of positive feedback. The guy at forefront health appears to rely on this dr.s research to support his message.

Salesy may just be his style, that doesn't make it bad info or good info. That's why I wanted to know if anyone had any actual experience with them. Although, granted, I did actually say 'what are your thoughts?' (A rookie mistake 😀).

Was there something in particular that you feel goes against everything you've learned about hypothyroidism?

I don't have the time or patience to look at the forefront site. Dramatic baiting questions and slow answers. A video a day delivered to your inbox for the rest of your life. Sorry, I just want to read about the subject, not play his games.

So you have experience of them?

I don't know myself.

However, having just trawled this website, I found a thread with equally interesting results. Some just opinions, some experience.

Look for the following:

Has anybody else tried The Hypothyroidism Revolution Program?

No, I have no experience with his programs. It costs $97 just to find out what he is talking about. I chuckle because you can't read for more than a few paragraphs on his web site without tripping over an ad for something he's hawking.

Good luck finding someone who's bought in.

Hi, I have put myself on the forefront health diet and it has turned my life round. Problems that have been bothering me for over 10 years are gradually disappearing. It is challenging and things became worse before they got better, and I still have a way to go but I know this is the best diet I have ever been on ever. I suffered from depression all my life and have Hashimoto's. Sales tactics are annoying and off putting but there you go it is from the U.S., they probably are ok with that sort of thing. It is cultural.

I was researching the company before purchasing because of exactly what is mentioned regarding the sales tactics .-Carmella from New York, NY

I paid $129 for the program and received the book and DVD and bought some supplements from their store that I was already taking.

It takes 2 to 4 days to get an answer back, and only from an associate, never from Tom. I would be glad to look things up for you to check out.

But as a retired Natural Health Practitioner and Nutritionist, I don't have enough of a chemistry background or Medical background to understand everything. It might take me years to look it up from independent sources.

OK, try asking yourself who profits. The people on here who give advice, do they profit in any way? Certainly not. They give their time and advice free of any charge.

Of course. And I for one am grateful for that having been very poorly whrn I first discovered this platform. I'm not attacking anyone.

I know you're not attacking anyone, it was just an example. I suppose what I mean is, I don't trust these sites where they're trying to sell their own supplements at the same time. That's all. :)

I find that he explains Peat's ideas very well and he was my first introduction to Peat. But if you're not pro-Peat, you won't be pro him either.

I'd never heard of Dr. Ray Peat u til I found these on facebook...or rather, facebook sent them to me based on my browsing history.

I'm interested to find people who have actually used this program.

happy, I reference Ray Peat quite often and posted his website. He is very respected but also so technical it is hard to decipher what he says. I have been getting Forefront messages and read a few. Can you say what some of the objections were?

Well drinking coffe, eating carbs and eating sugar and salt (salt in orange juice) to treat thyroid. It is the opposite of everything I've read about a thyroid diet. In fact, as someone who hasn't drunk coffee for years, about two months ago, I re-discovered Red Mountain coffee and was enjkying it more and more. My energy levels were amazing, i was getting stuff done and felt incredible. Then, after about a month, I started to feel rough and a bit sick. So I stopped drinking coffee and the most horrendous crash happened.

I had serious sharp pain shootind down my neck into my collar bones, the back of my neck was solid as a rock and painful. I was shaking, crying, unable to function. Couldn't get out of my house. Energy levels on the floor. Couldn't hold my head up!

That's when I went to see Dr. Peatfield. He put me on adrenaviveII, metavive I and various other vitamins and minerals. I started to feel more in control, but when I started the metavive, my liver felt rock solid, I had a permenant thirst and salty taste in my mouth. So I stopped everything apart from the hormone cream. Day one felt amazing. Day 2 a little trickier. Today is day 3 so it will be interesting.

Still taking my temps amd bpm, which naturally are higher due to our little heatwave and where I am in my cycle.

I will check out Dr. Peat. But do you know what? I am so fed up with feeling and thinking 'what's wrong with me?' And scanning my body for symptoms.

I've decided to focus on 'what can I do to balance this out?' Instead. So, I'm trying to find as many different ideas and programs as possible until I find what works for me.

Maybe there is some truth in the coffe thing, yet I crashed because I a) stopped it suddenly and b) hadn't adressed the other issues in my body, like vitamins and minerals, hormone imbalance. Etc.

Thanks for your feedback.

I know it's such a huge puzzle. I think there are more pros than cons about coffee but if your adrenals are in bad shape, it may be too stimulating. I like Thorne's Cortex, no additives like adrenavive. Licorice tea or Siberian ginseng are stimulants you might try. I think they are gentler than coffee. Dr. Peatfield treats both thyroid and adrenals together and I think it's a good idea. John Bergman is quite good at explaining the relationship on you tube and a great teacher. He ALWAYS includes meditation in his protocol and another doctor I followed for ten years said it was the most important thing you can do. More and more doctors are advising that you have to get your brain in a parasympathetic state. That takes real effort and there are a lot of devices out there that may or may not work.

Dr. Bergman calls Ray Peat a genius when it comes to hormones. Ray Peat is against starch but we need glucose from somewhere, right? Take a look at those articles. I wouldn't dismiss him entirely.

Licorice tea would work if the patient has no problem with hypoglycemia. But They keep mentioning Low Blood sugar levels as part of Hypothyroidism, so I think maybe investigate it to be sure you're not crashing.

The products they offer are fine. Nutrients that strengthen the thyroid are always good. It is better to use these products than nothing at all.
