Are you on any thyroid meds? What you feel like? Really need active FT3 result to , as that is the important one, TSH and Free ( presumably not total)T4 not giving much information ( though GPS rely on these 2 for diagnosis, then generally monitor with TSH only).

Hi Judith

Thanks for responding. It's all new to me. I did not know that I had to take Levo for life. I was taking 25mcg from March this year and the dose increased two weeks ago to 50mcg. I am trying to be proactive with my condition it's difficult with my results. The results is what I have written down exactly online. F3 doctors don t like to test that. Am I correct in that.

Your TSH is too high if you are being treated. Your FT4 should be higher. I would say "not ok". More information is needed to decide what to do about it.

Thank you for responding it's most appreciated. I am on Levo since March 25mcg. In the last couple of weeks increased to 50mcg. My moods are better. Next test 8 weeks time. Still feel tired though. I was on HRT for about 6 weeks and decided to come off them it did not work for me and concentrate more on my Thyroid condition.

I do agree with taking progesterone when you are hypothyroid as your adrenal glands may use more. This man is brilliant when it comes to hormones along with Ray Peat. Maybe you can glean some good information from this or any one of his other videos. A normal dose of levo is probably 100 to 125 mcgs. so you may need increases along the way to achieve a TSH of 1.0.

Hopefully your doctor has already told you to return for more testing after 6 weeks? If not he should have done! Each new dose takes 6 weeks to fully increase in your body so in theory we are told to return 6-8 weeks to be retested and to see if it is now at the required level. If not an increase of 25 mcg is given and the whole process is repeated again and this continues until you are on the correct dose for you. As you only increased your medication a few weeks ago it's too soon to see any change but if itcthe full 6 weeks then have another blood test. You may well need another increase.

When going back for testing make sure you have an early appointment with no medication beforehand and no food. Doctors can often say otherwise but it's not helpful to do this. TSH is at is highest during the night and then reduces during the day so the earlier the better is the best chance we have of getting a higher TSH reading. A lower one we have the risk of the doctor lowering our medication due to a lower TSH reading. Also food lowers our TSH as well so again we need to present a reading nearest to the highest we can test so not to be deprived of some of our medication. You can take your medication as soon as you leave the surgery or hospital but hold off eating for an hour if you can.

Thank you so much. I will be getting retested in 6 weeks. Is there a specific time limit to stop taking the Levo before testing??

At least twelve hours between or if you take it in the morning, wait until after having the blood draw.

Thank you I take my tablet at 6am and have my bloods done before 8am.

Then on that day you would take your tablet after 8 am.
