Some very helpful posters helped me to decipher some blood test results a few weeks ago and said I have Hashimotos due to high reading of antibodies.
But my actual thyroid result was in normal range.
I managed to get a referral for an endocrinologist tomorrow and I need your help with knowing what questions to ask or what I should, ideally, come away with.
I've also been feeling quite hoarse with my throat for about a year but my Gp dismissed that as I don't have a goitre. Should I ask for a thyroid ultrasound?
Many thanks.

On your 1st appointment it is very basic, well on most appts it's basic but they will ask how you are feeling and what are your symptons? Depending on your symptons they may well palpate your neck area-my endo refused me a ultrasound on the 1st occassion saying"no need no nodules" but gp sanctioned one and guess what-severall nodules and chronic damage-i would insist on it!! Ive had 2 now. You could also jot down any symptons you have and any questions you have?Do not want to put a damper on things but most endis are not very knowledgeable on the thyroid as most are diabetes specialists and they are not known for there patience and understanding but go in with a open mind and do not expect too much. I hope you get someone who is knowledgeable and sympathetic and if they are keep them!! Like many others here im on my 3rd Endo now as the other 2 were sacked!!. Good luck.
I'm a bit anxious to be honest, I know I'll probably get fobbed off with annual blood tests and am preparing myself for that. But I don't know what would be a successful outcome.
