How to take meds : Hi, I only have to take Levi... - Thyroid UK
How to take meds
I take my levothyroxine at bed-time. Many do - and there is some evidence that it can be better absorbed when taken then.
25 micrograms twice a week is, as others have sad, an extraordinarily low dose, and an odd dosing pattern.
I'd encourage you to do whatever is necessary to make sure you do remember, though. Whether that is set an alarm on your phone, write notes, putting into daily dosing boxes, or whatever else. Seems likely (to me) that you will need a more significant dose in the future, best get your technique for reminding yourself in place now.
Thank you, I think at night would be good for me as I have to take meds then, I can also set a phone alarm.
You should take levothyroxine alone, not with other medications which could interfere with the uptake of levo.
Can you get a print-out of your latest blood test results, with the ranges and put them on a new post.
Are you aware that all blood tests for thyroid hormones have to be at the earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and if you were taking thyroid hormones you'd allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test and take afterwards.
The doctors only look at the TSH result, which is from the pituitary gland, and TSH is highest early a.m. and drops throughout the day.
I have no idea why GP has prescribed such a low twice a week.
You can take any time.
Some people find with food or near to food the effects are lowered.
Bedtime is the best time to take for many people and this is when I take mine
Thank you, at night would be good for me so will try that.

The above link takes you to your last post and replies. Did you have the extra testing done for B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD ? Low B12 can be the cause of your memory issues and Low VitD is anti-inflammatory so would help the RA. You said it was fine earlier - but fine is an opinion - your result needs to be around 100 plus - was it ? VitD is also steroidal pro-hormone - so much more than a vitamin.
Are gluten free - RA is auto-immune - and these conditions can start with an unhealthy gut
If you take your Levo at night then it is advisable to take it around two hours after food ! Hope all goes well ...
Half an hour is not really enough anyway. You can take it at night about 2 hours after the last meal
