Hi there. I was prescribed Adrenanvive II yesterday for adrenal support. I have ordered it but slightly worried about taking raw bovine extract because of BSE link. I just wondered if anyone knew about the company procepts nutrition and how ethical they were?
Thanks a million!

Procepts source their bovine adrenal cortex from New Zealand & Argentina both of which are BSE free countries. The cattle are reared free range & grass fed. No growth hormones are used or routine anti-biotic or pesticides 🙂
Thanks so much for replying! I have their leaflet and saw their claims but just didn't know how genuine they were. You hear terrible stories about companies claiming to be organic etc but actually behind the scenes it's a different story. Have you tried them yourself?
Your most welcome. I've always had a bit a chat with the same chap, whenever I've ordered anything & felt satisfied. I've tried them & felt relief but I didn't help myself by getting out of the routine of taking them & I never knew of this forum back then. Unlike myself, stick with it & see if symptoms improve. If there's one thing I learned is stick with a treatment as it does need time, checking symptoms, pulses & temperature, increase dose if needs be, repeat blood tests when necessary & stick with the forum 😊If Dr Peatfield recommended Adrenavive it might be worth ringing up & speaking with his sececretary Lynne as she is very knowledgable & so nice or even the lovely man himself 😊
Hi Paula. This info sounds helpful. I am so anxiety-prone and seem to go thru life stressing out my adrenals with unimportant 'nonsense' at times. I'm not familiar with what sx might be improved with adrenavive. Can you share what to expect? Also, in the US is a prescription required? I would let my endo know at any rate if I wanted to try it. I've also seen the recipe for the "Adrenal Cocktail" on this forum but as I have A fib and really watch my salt the cocktail seemed too high in sodium. Thanks. irina
Hello Irina 😊 I'm like you, particularly at the moment when the slightest silliest thing (that wouldn't normally bother me) overly stresses me out & it's a horrible place to be, even dropping things can bring me to tears! Constant adrenaline running through the body, is not a pleasant sensation. So my next test to Adrenal stress index & As a few members have pointed out recently, adrenals don't get talked about & I'm not exactly sure why.
I saw Dr Peatfield, here in the U.K he well known to many thyroid patients. He himself has under active thyroid as do his staff & he used to be a GP, so he knows a thing or about thyroid.
I went to see him & he stressed the importance of addressing adrenal problems first, if we want thyroid treatment to work.
...sorry, sent it & had not finished. Was going to explain that I need to organise an Adrenal Stress Index test & check out cortisol levels.
Dr Peatfield talks of using bovine adrenal concentrates as one way of supporting the adrenals. According to him they contain all the adrenal hormones & enzymes to make them so they act synergistically with our own adrenals thus helping in the recovery of adrenal function.
Once your adrenals are sorted it becomes possible to introduce thyroid supplementation, within about 2 or 3 weeks. It's usually necessary to keep adrenal support going for several months after which it can be tailed off.
Adrenavive & Nutri Adrenal & Nutri Adrenal Extra are ones that Dr Peatfield have recommended. Diet can help as can pregnenolone, DHEA or 7-keto DHEA but I do t know anything about these. There are even more options if natural glandular concentrate is not going to be enough.
What I have written has been taken from his book "Your Thyroid & how to keep it healthy"
I'm not sure if glandular extracts are available on prescription in the US but Nutri Advanced, if memory serves me correctly is an American company & their products that we buy in the U.K. are brought over from the States. Adrenavive is made by Procepts, a U.K. company. I hope you are keeping as well as you can be. There's always something going on with us thyroid sufferers hey? Good to talk to you 😊 Cheerio
Thank you Paula. I know my adrenals need help-just wasn't sure how tostart. Seeing my new endo Wednesday and I will bring up the subject of adrenals. He has already tested am cortisol and DHEA so now I can pose specific questions and possible solutions. I'm pleased so far with my first visit in April and think this visit will also go well. Again, thanks. I'm with you on 'little stresses'. I had a small row withmy friend who sometimes stays over (resolved now) but it was about me being ridiculous about keeping my kitchen neat. I like my kitchen to stay neat as I cook so at the end, after a nice dinner, I don't face a big cleanup. Like most men I've known, when he fixes a small snack it looks like the Marines have marched through. This makes me crazy. My daughter once reminded me my kitchen doesn't have to look like an operating room. LOL. I attribute all my anxiety to years of incorrectly treated thyroid and now I realized my adrenals are in need of some good care too. xx irina
Your welcome. I'm glad your April appt went well, it must be a relief to have a professional who looks like they can be truly helpful.
Talking of kitchens, I always remember my cooking teacher telling us to clean as we go along whilst cooking & I've never forgotten, so I'm with you on that front 😁I still do it now! Good luck with your next appt & let us know how it goes. Look after yourself ........& keep that kitchen of yours spotless 😄
I will. And I am excited about my appt because I know he will probably bump up my T3 he started in April. Getting T3 started is, in itself, a small miracle!
I don't take thyroxine, but Adrenavive is an adrenal glandular - nothing to do with thyroid. Many people take both if they have low cortisol problems as well as low thyroid
