When this has been asked before, I have replied that you should look at the website of the blood service for your area. If necessary, ring or email them.

The combination of changing rules, and different needs for blood and blood products by area, means there is no one answer that can readily be given.

You could likely donate for your own surgery (autologous) if you needed too, provided your hemoglobin, etc. was within guidelines. Criteria for donating to the community is higher & varies by blood center, state, & country. Where I live it is important to feel well in order to be eligible to donate. If you don’t feel well you are declined no matter what the cause. Your past year of travel history factors into your eligibility to donate too.
