Lupus/ Depression now Premenopausal - yam cream safe?

Hi,

I have Lupus (26 years now), which is under control, Depression and Anxiety (11 years) and I'm now premenopausal with an increase in my depression/anxiety, heat in the body and a lot of hair loss. I just tried HRT for a few days and felt my mood drop severely. So I've decided not to take it, as I was hoping it would make my mood better! Does anyone who takes Prednisolone, Azathrioprine and Carbamazepine have any natural remedy advice for premenopausal mood swings? Yam cream for eg?

What I'm going to suggest might sound a bit mad but it worked for me ( I also tried HRT for several months but had awful side effects--- story of my life re meds) I just went with the mood swings. When I felt hot or angry or just downright hacked off i played music--- loudly! Bought my first iPod ( that dates me) and made up my "eff it" playlist.

It did work for me. And have to say other than those first few months of hrt hell and very heavy periods which then stopped suddenly, I feel I sailed through the menopause. I made myself laugh at the hot flushes, took off a layer and turned the heating off.

It mightn't work for everyone but it was cheap and effective for me. BUT I acknowledge I had very minimal early signs of fibro and it was pre thyroid problems , not full blown Lupus so can understand different health levels have an effect.

Why not try a different HRT? I worry re risks etc but I felt so unwell, I blamed everything on thyroid and whilst it's still not optimally treated as I struggled with effects of thyroxine I feel a lot better adding HRT a low dose patch is helping
