I have recently come off HRT tablets due to a forthcoming operation and have developed very itch skin rash on different parts of my body. Does any one know if this could be a symptom of withdrawal from HRT?

Hi Madvicky. I am going through the menopause and have not taken HRT. I have been plagued by rashes on various parts of my body. Ive currently got a raging rash around my neck and chest with no rhyme or reason to what is causing it. I can only put it down to menopausal symptoms.

Hi elliebath. The rash did go eventually. I used coconut oil which seemed to do the trick. I now get big itchy red bumps on my face though, almost like hives. Have seen a GP but she couldn’t tell me what causes it. Thank you for asking. 😀

Yes rashes are a menapausal symptom. Trouble is I’m post menapausal and still suffering. I got another rash from blood pressure tablets!

Hi Madvicky I am several years post-menopausal and I recently developed an itchy rash on my upper chest and "down below" ( itched like crazy so very distressing and embarassing ).

My doctor diagnosed a form of excema , apparently very common in older women as the skin becomes thinner and dry due to reduced female hormones ( another "age" thing !!!) . It was extremely uncomfortable but applying a lavish helping of emollient ointment for a week improved it immensely. You can get it from the pharmacy if you can't see a GP.

Thanks for your reply but I’ve tried various creams. Recently had a course of steroids and the rash went for a week. But it’s now back.
