Hi

Sorry for the long post

I've been suffering for about 10 years. I'd have a blood test, its borderline, come back in 6 months, it's fine.. for about 5 years. Then as I got older I read up a bit more and started arguing back.

finally 18 months ago, after much shouting and crying the doctor agreed to send me to the endo. When I went he couldnt believe I hadnt been given anything sooner and started me at 25mg levothyroxine and a letter my levels should be between 0.2 and 1.

I had a blood test every 6 weeks until i finally settled at 0.6 on 100mg

However on my 6 month check up I had gone back up to 1.8. I had been feeling more tired but had put it down to buying a house and currently sleeping on the spare bed whilst our room gets done

Ive been put up to 125mg with another blood test in two weeks. however i dont feel any better, im even more exhausted, and down in the dumps

anyone else had this where their levels are settled and suddenly go off the rails?

0.6 TSH to 1.8 isn't an enormous leap. A number of things could raise your level a little. Have you had thyroid antibodies tested? Your exhaustion could be down to other things. Have you had your iron levels checked, for instance?

It would be a good idea if you posted some of your blood test results on here. What is of no concern to your doctor, might be of tremendous concern to us. And we really can't help you without knowing what's been tested, and the numbers : results and ranges. :)

I hope they're not just doing TSH, because that will tell them nothing!

These are the tests needed for optimal thyroid Function - B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD. Thyroid tests needed are TSH - FT4 - FT3 and Anti-bodies TPO & Tg. You are legally entitiled to have copies of ALL your results - this will help you to monitor your own health and post here with more detail :-)

I have found if I change my dose or tablet make I feel horrible for a while n then it evens out and i feel better again. So a big jump in medication may be why you don't feel so great. Hope you feel better soon x
