I received the results of my intrinsic factor levels back today...

2u-ml (0-24)

Could someone please help me understand is my result is a normal level I’m not sure if 0 means the lower end meaning 2 is not very good or if it’s a good result because it’s not right up by 24 ???

Thank you in advance x

Your result has come back negative for Intrinsic factor.

However, the test is quite specific but not very sensitive with the result that it gives false negatives 40-60% of the time (depending on the exact assay method).

If you get a positive result it is good evidence that you do have PA (unless done too close to supplementation). If you get a negative result that is a long way from showing that you don't have PA
