I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem at the age of 35 and ended up taking 400 mg per day for maybe 15 years. Over the following years this was reduce by my GP eventually I ended 250 mg which I found be ok. Then over the last few years it went down to 225 mg it has now been reduced to 200 mg.I don,t feel comfortable on this dose as my weight is increasing and I am sleeping much more during the day. People say its because your older I don,t accept this I know when my dosage is right,
Is normal for the dosage to change by 50%

Unless you are very, very large, 400mcg is not a normal dose of levothyroxine so something was badly wrong, if you are in the UK then until 2013, all levothyroxine in the UK was badly compromised which meant many people had to increase their dose due to lack of efficacy. However, it could be down to a different reason altogether so post results as SeasideSusie suggests and let people here help.
