You need a period of being 100% gluten free to determine whether you need to avoid gluten or not, at least 1 month without.

If gluten is a trigger for you, a small exposure can potentially cause a spike that will take your body months to settle from. You would notice improvement on 85%, but not recovery. Plus whenever you ate gluten, your symptoms would become exaggerated.

So if u gluten free and thyroid sumptons improve afyer a month then u know to avoid it bit if no different then u may as well eat it? Does it help with weight loss?

You may notice an improvement when you give it up, you may not, but it's when you try a bit of gluten again that you'll know for sure.

Symptoms can occur up to 3 days after you eat it again, so bear that in mind. It could be headache, stiff joints, stomach upset, skin rash.

Going gluten free isn't a weight loss technique in itself. Gluten free alternatives are often higher in fat, sugar and additives, so it is better to eat a diet that is naturally gluten free (it is lower carb, and increases vegetable consumption).

You need to test antibodies over fairly long period of being gluten free

Many find that TPO antibodies slowly reduce the longer you are absolutely strictly gluten free

You may not notice any difference in symptoms

I knew what my antibodies were before I went 100% gluten free. After three months I tested again - home fingerprick tests - they had come down so I carried on. I was intending going back to foods containing gluten if nothing happened but that was three years ago - I’ve tested regularly during that time and I’m still 100% gluten free, my antibodies are in single figures and nothing on earth would make me eat gluten.

Sorry to say it but there’s no point being ‘almost’ gluten free or ‘nearly’ gluten free. You either are or you aren’t.

So what effects does having high antibidies do ? My daughter 31 range over 35?

In my case high antibodies was a sign that I had Graves Disease.

I had pretty much every horrible unpleasant symptom you can get for Graves Disease.

My antibodies are very low now but my Graves is in remission so I just feel healthy and normal now.

Are your daughters antibodies 31 and 35?

My thyroid antibodies started off at 401.0 (<115) and 32.9 (<34 ) three years ago before I went gluten free and now they are 27.1 (<115 )and <9 (<34 )

Hope that helps.

Then antibodies are currently negative since they are under 35. However there are two sorts of antibodies for hypo (Hashis) TPO and TG, and the NHS rarely test TG. For Graves it is TSI and TRAB
