Can Levothyroxine be stored in fridge in warm climates?

We are hoping to go to Tenerife shortly and often the temperature in the apartment will go above 25 degrees. Is it ok to store Levo in fridge? They will be kept in blister pack so won’t be loose and attract condensation. Concordia say it is fine. Many thanks.

I have been to Australia where the temperature gets higher than Tenerife and I've never bothered storing my Levo in the fridge and it's been fine.

However, if you have actually asked Concordia then I imagine they would know more about how to store it than anyone on the forum.

However the Australian makes of levothyroxine demand that they be stored under refrigeration. As I understand, some time ago the industry/healthcare establishment had a choice between reducing labelled product life (shortening Use By dates) or requiring refrigeration. They chose refrigeration.

Bear in mind, though, that this is probably only really important when kept for significant periods at higher temperatures. A week or two slightly over 25C might have little impact.

You are right to consider humidity.

Yes, as it was a holiday, it was a short term thing. I kept my Levo in the blister packs and there was no deterioration at all. If I lived there, well that would be different. But for a 1-2 week holiday in Tenerife I think there's unlikely to be a problem.

I lived in Australia for many years and was advised by my GP to keep the levo in the fridge. There was never a problem with the levo when I did so.
