Ectopic beats

Does anyone else get ectopic beats? I feel them quite often- and was told that basically they are harmless by a cardiac

Consultant about 20 years ago. However the last 2 days they are really quite frequent at least 2 or 3 in every 5 mins. I’m not getting a run of them and my heart beat falls back into a regular pattern in between but just happening much more frequently than usual.

I’m positive for graves and hashis antibodies am on 10mg carbimazole. Waiting for next set of bloods to see if I should reduce carbi a bit. Heart rate currently approx 65 at rest (so not racing like when I’m not on carbi)

Any thoughts as to how to manage them... ?

Yes. really exciting ones - constantly. Double, triples, quadruples and ones they can't count. My heart plays reggae. It's annoying more than anything. However, when I've recently taken T3, they go away for a few hours. In fact a friend who was hugging me said "that's funny, your heart beat is normal; it's usually syncopated". But I have secondary/central hypo, not overactive.

Thanks for your reply... your situation sounds more intense than mine... I’d just rather my heartbeat was nice and regular all the time. So you haven’t found anything that helps reduce them at all then apart from shortly after taking T3?

How long have you had them?

I just ignore them now - they are only irritating sometimes when I'm trying to get to sleep. Had ectopic beats of one sort or another for about 40 years now. Being active makes you not notice them.

Hi there only today i found out i had ectopic beats-they can make you feel horrid but im on carbi 2.5 mgs titration doses, gp said it can be caused by meds that im on, over medicated or under, tea, coffee. Im also very iron deficient and this coulf also be a sympton as this causes breathlessness too. Im also positive for hashi and graves😕 just like you im also waiting for bloods!! We all seem to be in the same boat dont we.x
