Obviously no-one is interested in their heart - even though without enough T3 it can act up.
Thanks for the bump Helvella. I’m very interested in heart health as my mum is now the oldest in her immediate family to still be alive 😬 She’s 66yrs. Her mum, Dad and brother(s) (one died young in a car crash so doesn’t count) all died of heart disease. Her cousin (very much younger as he’s my age) had a quadruple bypass at 32, he neither smoked nor drank, he lived a moderate life. So heart disease is/was in our family and so is thyriod disease.
I had never heard of 'thyroid' before I was diagnosed. Even the fact that not one professional could even suggest what was wrong with me shows the flaws in detection.
Before blood tests and levo were introduced they knew all clinical symptoms and gave a trial of NDT. It shows how uneducated they are in this 'modern day era' and dependent upon blood tests only - if they take any at all - they probably never test the complaining patient for the disease which means a Full Thyroid Function test - not just a TSH and T4.
