Hi guys, my free t4 is 15.9 and my free T3 is 4.6 pmol/L. Has anyone been prescribed t3 with these levels, being on the lower side of optimal? Also wondering if there is anyone here from Ireland that has been given prescription by doctor in Dublin?

Without the ranges folk can only guess where you are.
By the looks of it you don't have a conversion problem so T3 is probably not the answer.
However, we need reference ranges for those results, plus we need to see your TSH result. If TSH is 1 or below then we know your conversion is fine. If TSH is high in range then you would need to get your TSH down to 1 or lower.
Good conversion takes place when the FT4:FT3 ratio is 4:1 or less. If your TSH is 1 or lower then we can see your ratio is 15.9/4.6 = 3.45 : 1 which is excellent.
Optimal vitamin and mineral levels play a part in thyroid hormone working, so you really need to test
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
And have you had thyroid antibodies tested too?
Hi SeasideSusie, thank you so much for your reply! My Tsh is 1.85. How do I get this to 1,or below? I had thyroid antibodies tested, and they were fine. My vitamin D was deficient, so I'm now taking a supplement for that.
Reference range for free T3 is 3.1-6.8
Reference range for free T4 is 12.0-22.0
Reference range for Tsh is 0.270-4.0
TSH: 1.85 (0.27-4.0)
FT4: 15.9 (12-22)
FT3: 4.6 (3.1-6.8)
Is this a Blue Horizon or Medichecks test? If so did you have B12, Folate and Ferritin tested?
What is your Vit D level and what dose of D3 are you supplementing, is it prescribed or do you buy your own?
Are you taking D3's important cofactors magnesium and Vit K2-mk7?
Are you diagnosed with hypothyroidism and taking Levo?
Yes, blue horizon test. My vitamin D was 41 range <50. I've started taking desunin 800 x 2 daily.
B12 is 599
Ferritin was 72.5 (15-150)
Folate 7.2 (3.89-26.8)
I haven't been taking D3 cofactors. Can you suggest a good brand?
I haven't been diagnosed with hypo, and I'm not on levo
I assume that the Desunin is prescribed. GPS only are obliged to get you out of the insufficient or deficient range, but the Vit D Council recommends a level of 100-150nmol/L. You need more than 1600iu daily. With your level I suggest you buy some D3 (softgels are best, eg Doctor's Best or Now Foods) and add them to your Desunin to make a total of 5000iu daily (or nearest you can get). Retest after 3 months and if you've reached the recommended level you need to find your maintenance dose by trial and error, this might be 2000iu daily, maybe more or less. We need to retest twice a year when taking D3 to keep within the recommended range. You can do a home fingerprick blood spot test with City Assays vitamindtest.org.uk/index.h...
D3 has important cofactors vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...
D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and Vit K2-mk7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissue where it can be deposited and cause problems such as kidney stones.
Healthy Origins is a good brand of K2-mk7 bigvits.co.uk/product.php?p... They do a smaller pack but the bigger pack is better value.
Magnesium helps the body to use D3. Choose the form of magnesium which is best for you naturalnews.com/046401_magn...
D3 and K2 are fat soluble and need to be taken with the fattiest meal of the day. Magnesium is calming so best taken in the evening.

Your Folate is on the low side and ideally should be at least half way through it's range. A good B Complex will raise it, eg Thorne Basic B.

Your Ferritin is OK and you need to keep it at least 70 for thyroid hormone to work (that's our own as well as replacement hormone). I've seen it said that for females 100-130 is best. Eating liver once every couple of weeks will help.

Your thyroid results are normal and your TSH is where we would expect to see it in a healthy person, ie between 1 and 2, and your FT4 and FT3 are in balance. My reference to TSH being 1 or below is for hypothyroid patients on Levo. I had assumed from your original post that you were diagnosed with hypothyroidism and taking Levo.
