TRHR gene defect

Anyone know anything about it? Apparently, genetically speaking, my thyroid is fantastic (I was expecting DIO2 defect, but mine is wonderful), but I have upstream problems with TRH receptor and TSH signalling (PDE8B). The blurb suggests that I would have higher TSH (compared to my Frees) but I have never had a TSH over 0.7. Oh, well, nurture not nature wins, I suppose ...

How have you found out about these specific problems? 23andme? Regenerus?

I was wondering if it was BH. I posted mine off last week, so looks like I will have a month or more to wait.

Some of the tests are things I've never heard of, so I wonder if I will get some confusing results, too.

Stuff like this makes me wish we had a proper bulletin board style forum, so there could be an ongoing thread about this package of tests.

I've seen them mentioned on the forum a few times recently. I think a lot of people (me included) took advantage of the January offer to buy it.

I'm not sure how useful it was really. I think it just shows that I am actually quite different from what my genes say. Apparently my T4 to T3 conversion is amazingly good genetically, but my bloods tell a different story. Must be all those bangs on the head ...

I'm sure there are a lot more generic issues in conversion they don't yet know about! We definitely know that lots of overall health/illness issues can impact conversion, and loads of those will have genetic origins as well!

I think it's always nice having a tick in the box that something more is known. With genetics it's sure to change a lot in the near future!

Was thought to be secondary (as other low hormone problems), but TRH test never done, so could be tertiary.

I think that means your TSH doesn't respond, when hypothyroid

Which is what you do experience
