Hello I’m new to the forum . Can you advise me please on blood tests I can ask my GP to do .

I’ve had hypothyroidism for 35 + years always had bad health v prone to infections . I also have cutaneous lupus , in remission, sygrens and FM ,

I don’t have my latest results have just been told my TSH is low so I’ve to lower my levothyroxine to 100 then 1.12.5 alternate days .

I had flu , slap cheek and shingles one after the next , winter of 2017 .Lots of stress my 90yr old mother has dementia,

I have blood tests every 3 months . After tests my GP upped my levothyroxine to 150 from 100 in the summer , Next tests showed meds too high so meds lowered to 125 . Next test still too high so was on 100 and 125 alternate days.

My tests this week , still too high so Im now to take 100 and 112.5 alternate days . This winter I’ve had a bad flulike virus from mid Dec, a week feeling ok then a bad cough which left me with swollen glands sore throat , I started to feel a bit better last week but am now woozy and weak glands v swollen

I’m taking lots of suppliments after being tested at an allergy clinic . And have now had to leave my mums care to my sisters hoping this will help.

So tired of feeling ill , My GP said 3 months ago he’d do more tests if I still hadn’t improved , I’m not sure what tests should be done so would be so grateful for any advice . Thank you 😊

Hmmmm, do you have Hashimotos? GP may call it autoimmune thyroiditis?

Blood tests you do need include

TSH

FT3

FT4

TGab ANTIBODIES

Peroxidase ANTIBODIES

B12

FOLATE

FERRITIN

VITAMIN D

and personally I think sex hormones should be checked.

You may find you cannot get all these tested by Gp, a lot of us, me included, get private blood tests done via THYROID UK

thyroiduk.org/tuk/testing/p...

I would have a good read of all the info on TUK website, we need to learn as much as we can. In the UK we are entitled to copies of our blood test results from GP, ask receptionist for a copy of all your test results, including ranges and post them on here. Then knowledgeable ppl can have a look and see what's going on. It sounds like your meds are being adjusted by TSH 😐 Without ft4 and ft3 there is no way of telling if you are over medicated yet still meds are adjusted by TSH 😡

Ask questions on here, it's the only way to learn 🙂
