Ive posted before about the struggles im having loosing weight at the moment, so im currently considering changing the time I take my citropram tablets to night time to see if it makes a difference? and keeping my levothyroxine to the morning to see if it helps taking them separately. The doctor put me on olistat a month or 2 ago but ive only this week started taking them properly. Ive been taking one at dinner and tea times, because of a morning I only have a juice plus shake so dont see the point. Im still steadily gaining around 2 lbs a week. I eat healthy either sw home cooked meals or joe wicks meals! Im getting concerned now and im not back to see the Endo doctor until the end of the month.
Changing time of medication?: Ive posted before... - Thyroid UK
Changing time of medication?
Do you mean you've been taking your levo and citropram together, at the same time? I should think it will make a difference taking them separately, because you probably haven't been absorbing your levo properly.
When did you last have a blood test? Do you have a copy of the results? If so, post them here, and let's have a look. Sounds like some sort of under-medication. How much levo are you taking?
Yes I normally take them together and doctors have always said thats fine, but im just thinking it could help? wasn't sure if it was worth ago.
Im currently taking 75mg of levo in the morning and dont eat for 1hr.
Last bloods were taken in January
TSH 0.33 (0.4 - 4.5)
FREE T4 17.3 (8 - 21)
FREE T3 5.2 (2.5 - 6.5)
The hospital said no action to be taken after these results, so when I go back im just wondering what else I could suggest they try, because the doctor was no help whats so ever.
Doctors are idiots. All medication should be taken at least two hours away from thyroid hormone.
Even so, your results aren't bad on only 75 mcg levo. Which isn't a high dose. And your conversion seems to be quite good. Still there is room for improvement with your FT3. Most people need it higher than that to feel well. So, perhaps taking your citropram well away from your levo will give you that little boost you need.
What you could ask for is to have your nutrient levels tested. Being hypo often affects your absorption of nutrients, and they need to be optimal for your body to be able to use thyroid hormone. So ask them to test your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin.
