Just thought to write another post for those who are going through any difficulties-not to give up....

Finally my t3 Perrigo has arrived it took me just few days but cost me mountain of money as I needed medication asap (was left with out treatment as I was allergic to t4).Its been 6 months since I been diagnosed with Hypo and Hashimoto....I am sitting next to my computer literally crying and thinking of those people who are really struggling and message them that -do not give up what ever it takes!!! I just prayed to God looked in the sky and i asked him for forgivness and his mercy upon me ....I took my first 5mcg t3 and pray it will help me-I have no clue when it will start to work...immigiatley or ? when should i expect body reaction? I am so scared of palpitations and all sorts side effects as i had bad expierence on t4...still can feel its effects...I dont know if i will be doing right but I will start with 5mcg daily for couple of days and than one 5mcg morning and 5mcg evening? What makes a difference if i take one morning and late aftenoon or i should better take one morning and other evening before bed? Cant get my head aroud. Iam seen my endo on 18th April only from today and I have one month supply in my hands. He told me to have 5mcg for couple of days and than to up it to 10mch a day till i see him. I wonder what are positive signs of t3 when it starts to work? I have also managed to book an appoitment with nutritionist tomorrow so he will do some kind BIO screening to see how my body reacts on certains hormones. He will check my vitamin and mineral plus gut health with this screening 9not a clue how it can be done but results shuld be in 30min). Also i asked him to do my adrenal testing as he specialises in Chines medicine and all nutrition and helps people with Adrenal problems too. I really want to be as healthy as p[ossible and do as much as i can to get my health sorted. Sorry tears falling.....i want also kids so much ...me and my husband been a lot through these couple of years and specially now once i been diagnosed with autoimmune dsease i never heard of and hypo...I also have recieved a book Anthony William THYROID HEALING book and waiting for others to come. I want who ever reads this message to tell that there is a hope and do not lose it...I know it is hard and diffcult ...at one point and actually even now i dont see any light or reason to live, but if there is illness there is a cure for it -we just need to find it....

I can not address how scared Iam of t3 now..I have no clue how it will react on my body....any side effects i should look for will it make me worse or better...what will future bring....I dont know....if this t3 will not work on me what than....?

Hi Ari3 :) I'm so pleased for you that you've got some T3. I know well the anxiety of taking it - I was torn between wolfing it down because I was convinced it was what I needed, and having a meltdown at the thought of what it might to do me!

Are you keeping a record of your basal temperature and pulse?

I increased my amount a bit slower than that - my tablets are 25mcg, and I took a quarter for the first two weeks, then a half for another two weeks, etc.

I didn't feel any immediate improvements, although some do. Within about 4-5 days I noticed slight improvements (more regular poos for starters!) - enough to encourage me that I was on the right path.

I felt a more significant improvement when I reduced the levo that I was taking at the same time.

I'm still working out my dosage, and am also looking in to my progesterone and oestrogen and cortisol levels.

It's a massive jigsaw puzzle, isn't it?!

There is a facebook page called 'Recovering with T3' which I find helpful.

The thing I hang on to when taking T3 is that IF it doesn't agree with you, then it's out of your system very quickly after you stop taking it. That makes me feel calmer!

Best of luck and i look forward to hearing how you get on with it :)

Thanks for such a lenghty reply-much appriciated! Its good to know that there are several people who are just like me ....Its been 2 hrs since i took 5mcg and i feel very pleasant warmth in my body and so relaxing feeling-is this a good sign? I didnt eat 2 hrs befor takeing it and one hr after . I will have my main meal sooner around 16 00pm and than will have my all vitamins. As I have to take them 4 hrs apart...Once I wake tomorrow morning I will have my 5mcg again.

I dont know how to take a basal temperature or pulse? what is this for? how to do it and what should i look for?

yes it is a big puzzle ...I have ordered Paul Robbinsons book Recovering with t3 book and it should arrive soon. I have couple of books coming my way and have read couple of them. I have changed my diet eating more healthy . I wish I could pay attention to myself years back....but never mind its not too late !

Do you believe that coconut oil has some cure too? Do you use it in some ways? Does it help Hypothyroidism?

I will increase my dose slowly...I stimulate my stomach with LACTULOSE suppositories and dulcolax stool softener at present. Its awful situation in my end but its never ending battle I guess till you hit the right note!

I will keep you posted about t3 or any conserns I will have if u dont mind just to ask for an advice as I am so nervous. I am looking forward for nutritionist...everything costs so much money..if this t3 will be alright Perrigo one than I will try to find it somewhere cheaper as these cost me 118 pounds for months supplly on 5mcg twice a day....including next day delivery...I ordered last Friday and got today.

Ari.. Shiny has given you excellent advice, particularly the suggestion to track your body temp and heart rate. Keep a daily log, nothing fancy, with these items (body temp/heart rate... blood pressure if you have a bp cuff), thyroid dosage/times and how you are feeling generally. A mercury thermometer supposedly gives the most accurate body temp. If all you have is a modern digital thermometer, leave it in for 6 - 7 mins to get a close, accurate reading. These readings should be trending upwards and improving as time goes by.

Oh.... also take these readings about 3 pm in the afternoon each day. This is when readings are optimal. If you find the readings going over the normal range and you see that you are getting anxious, trouble sleeping etc... time to drop your t 3 dosage. This is the tricky part, tweaking and finding that 'sweet spot'... that ideal dosage. Also, take labs again at the six - eight weeks point in order to see how you are doing.

When you see the nutritionist, do have labs done to test your levels of B 12, D 3 and iron since these need to be optimal (not just within range) in order to stabilize your thyroid meds dosages. Most folks find that, if these are out of range, they have to work on all these things simultaneously.

I see Phoenix has given you the info about temps and heart rate :)

I've read that coconut oil can help with the thyroid sustainablebabysteps.com/co... Personally I've been taking it for a long time for lots of other reasons. Definitely avoid PUFAs (polyunsaturated fatty acids, ie vegetable oil).

Rather than lactulose and dulcolax, you could try supplementing magnesium citrate and ascorbic acid (vit c) - both of these are excellent for getting your digestive system moving, as any excess is secreted. Plus they also have real health benefits :)

I hear you on the expense!! and just the sheer gi-normous jigsaw puzzle confusion of it all! Arrggggh lol.

I've still ploughing through the Recovering with T3 book. His facebook page is worth a look too :)

I'm happy for you to ask me questions and I'll try to help if I can. Just please bear in mind that I'm totally learning too on all this!

I think it's personal preference really.

Certainly most are best taken with food, and some are best taken with fat.

I'm not sure me listing mine will be that helpful as I'm taking various one for other reasons too, not just thyroid.

I need to shift myself now as I've got to get up properly and go out lol.

Take care x
