Hello,
I'm new here. I've had PCOS for about 5 years, hypothyroid 4 and last year had an MRI which showed a microprolactinoma after the prolactin levels were elevated to over 1000 (now at 14 after taking cabergoline weekly). My TSH levels were raised recently after being stable for years, so they increased my levothyroxine dose to 100mcg. I'm 25. Symptom wise I suffer with senstivity to the cold, brain-fog, sleepiness, heartburn, dry skin/hair (which the hairdressers always comment on). The symptoms that bother me most however are the general fatigue, feeling like I can't push myself with exercise and weight gain (I have gone from a UK size 10 to 16 in the past 5 years, and my BMI is now 31).
I am worried that all of these things are linked, yet in themselves I always feel like they are seen as trivial by the doctors and until now I have largely had the same attitude, putting my tiredness/weight gain to lack of self discipline/depression/poor motivation.
I am now at a tipping point where I am about to start a new job which I know will be rewarding but stressful, we are also looking for a mortgage to settle down and so my partner and I have to make some decisions now about how seriously I should take this kind of thing, whether I should cut back work to focus more on my health ect and the impact of that on where and how we live.
I am looking for advice on where to start. Does anyone have experience with the interplay of these conditions, can give me advice for any supplements, nutrition ect?
