I Feel awful on NDT, should I stop and try a different make?

I posted on here a couple of days ago as on Wednesday I started taking Thyroid S 1/2 a grain.

I take it one hour after breakfast, rather than the other way round as this suits me better.

This is the first time I’ve taken anything Thyroid related, as my Endocrinologist wouldn’t prescribe anything despite being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s.

I’m gluten and dairy free (shown intolerance to both of them) I’m taking vitamins regular and working with a nutritionist and I’ve felt fine apart from unstable weight and also freezing cold)

Sunday I started to feel tired, so I decided it was time to start my NDT.

Started it on Wednesday, However I feel dreadful on it, my sleep is better I’m just waking up at 3am for the toilet, but I feel like a zombie on it, I’ve developed major dark circles under my eyes, no energy, I’m emotional, developed a headache, and my muscle stiffness is back and I’m really dizzy today.

I don’t think it’s agreeing with me, how long should I give it, or just stop taking it.

Can you take Ashwagandha with NDT? as wonder if this would help.

I did a adrenal stress test and my nutritionist said it’s not perfect, but not dangerously low.

Best wishes

Don’t despair, I’m in the same boat. Gaining weight on levothyroxine 100 mg freezing even with my jacket on and getting up at 3:00 am to use the bathroom we should start a club and text each other while we’re in the potty😁seriously if you take B5 pantothetic acid with your B vitamins it should help your adrenal insufficiency

Are you persevering with your medication? I’m so dizzy, I’m walking around like I’m 100 years old.

I wonder how many people are up at 3am seems a common time for the toilet, like you say.

Thanks for advice on B5 vitamins.

Best Wishes

I use thyroid -s , and it can be a bumpy road , but in my opinion worth persevering as when you get there it does work .

Over the years I have gotten up to 8 grains yes ( eight ) with slow improvement and changes , returns , coming going of symptoms , weird blood results ........

1/2 grain is actually not that big an intake , but probably enough to flare up the hashi's when it detects it .

You can get symptoms from the hashi attack that are separate to you hypo status .

The way I did it , regular blood hormone level tests , keep raising slowly till you feel well , ignore the TSH and just go by the blood levels . Don't worry if the bloods go a little over at first , I found if you do not reduce the dose the levels lower when tested a few weeks later .

Be prepared to spend some money on private tests.

Do you know your T4 and T3 level before starting thyroid -s ?
