Just wondering if anyone who isn't either hashis or coeliac has found a gluten free diet helpful. I've non stop issues with all the thyroid meds and pondering the root cause. Thx.

I’m in remission from Graves Disease. I was diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis a few years ago and decided that was one more autoimmune condition too many.

I put myself on a totally gluten free diet. If you want to know if you are coeliac then get tested before you stop eating gluten or the test won’t work. I didn’t care, I just wanted to stop eating gluten.

It has made an enormous difference. My antibodies that were over the range - well over - are now almost non existent. It wasn’t that difficult to do. I joined Coeliac UK and got their food handbook which was invaluable at the start, they also have a website and a magazine. There is masses of information on the internet but basically I go for good old fashioned home cooking and read every single label to check that it doesn’t involve anything with wheat or any other form of gluten - you will be amazed at where wheat / gluten crops up in the manufacturing process.

Thx. I've been tested and am not ceoliac. But I'm really struggling to tolerate all thyroid drugs for reasons no one can explain. So in an "any port in a storm" fashion I'm open to trying anything. I know gluten free works well for hashis but I hadn't seen similar praise from non hashis. Thx.

You were right! My sensation of swollen neck almost disappeared on day 8. I had about 20 mins of discomfort days 8 9 10 then it's gone. Miracle !!
